29-year old motorcyclist Dyandre Chee allegedly shot and killed by Police

By Aaron Humes: A young man is dead and already the recrimination back and forth between authorities and bystanders has begun following events Saturday night that claimed the life of Dyandre “Yadiel” Chee, 29.

As we have reported, an eyewitness who claims to be Yadiel’s passenger posted to social media to say that none of he and his friends fired any weapons, that they were just cruising after leaving work, and that Police intercepted, chased and fired at them, fatally injuring Chee.

Police Quick Response Team personnel, according to official reports, were responding to shots being fired in the Boundary Road area between Orange Walk Town and San Jose Palmar village. On arrival at Riverside Street, three motorcycles, each one with a passenger, were seen fleeing from the area at high speed.

Police say they set chase as the motorcycles and their riders were seen travelling towards Banquitas House of Culture near the bridge exiting town toward San Estevan. At the same time while chasing Police heard several shots apparently coming from the motorcycle riders towards the Police. The chase proceeded on Otro Benque Street, where one of the cycles took a U-turn. At the same time, two other shots were heard and officers from the police pickup responded.

The driver of a black motorcycle, apparently Chee, was then seen falling off the cycle. He was approached and observed with a gunshot wound to his stomach. He was rushed to the Northern Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. His passenger namely Miguel Rivero complained of pain in his right leg and has received medical attention.

Commissioner of Police Chester Williams has instructed a criminal and internal investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of Chee, which is now underway.
