“They didn’t stop shooting until they killed him:” Eyewitness claims Police were in wrong in fatal O.W. shooting incident

By Aaron Humes: An eyewitness to Saturday night’s police shoot-out in Orange Walk Town earlier today posted to social media to insist he and his friends were doing nothing wrong and that police had no right to shoot at, much less kill, 29-year-old Deandre Chee.

The eyewitness who responded to the official police report as posted by another media house, says the men were out “cruising” after getting off work when they encountered police. The “shots” the police claim to have heard was actually, according to him, the muffler pressure on the motorcycles being eased, followed by actual gunfire from police.

According to the eyewitness, they fled because they were afraid of being shot at and that police pursued them indiscriminately and he only survived because he turned into an alleyway. Meanwhile, police, he said, did not stop shooting until Chee went down.

Chee, a deliveryman for a local service, was not so lucky, and even after he went down, eyewitnesses claim, police “roughed him up,” tried to handcuff him, and claimed when he was ultimately taken to the hospital that his injuries were from a crash.

A criminal and internal investigation has been ordered by Police Commissioner Chester Williams.
