By Benjamin Flowers: Haven House, an NGO dedicated to supporting survivors of domestic violence, is celebrating its 30th anniversary this weekend with its first-ever fashion show.
Empowering the Runway will be held on Saturday, April 1 at the Belize Civic Center from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
Marilyn Dawson-Aspinall 2nd Vice President of Haven House told Breaking Belize News that the event will begin with the “purple carpet” segment, which is an adaptation of the traditional red carpet entrance to major events while showing support for domestic violencesurvivors.
“Purple is the color for domestic violence [support] and it’s Haven House’s signature color. It has to be all bout the cause. It is a fashion show, we will have fun, we will see both local and international fashion, but we can’t forget the cause is to advocate for persons who undergo domestic violence,” Aspinall said.
The event, which is being held just after the close of Women’s Month, will feature clothing available from Pink Boutique and Phoenix Boutique among others, and will also feature models from Nouveau Model Management.
