By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Verdes’ player Joel Andrés Burgos scored a brace in Puerto Rico’s 5-1 thumping of the Cayman Islands at the Juan Ramón Loubriel Stadium in Bayamón, Puerto Rico, on Sunday in the Concacaf Nations League C.
As per the game Puerto Rico won 3-1 over British Virgin Islands last Thursday, Burgos entered the ball game late. This time, however he had more time as he replaced Leandro Antonetti in the 77’.
Burgos scored in the 89’ and 90’+2 to give Puerto Rico a 5-1 win which secured the top spot in Group D with 12 points from four consecutive victories. Both Cayman Islands and British Virgin Islands have only two points each.

“Verdes for life!”
Burgos is the only foreign player in Belize called to play for his National Team. Players from Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay, Peru, Colombia, and Spain play in the Premier League of Belize, among others.
Burgos came to Verdes through the collaboration program the Cayo team have with Mexican club Car Cracks del Futuro from Cancún.
