By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: A former basketball teammate of Audrey Hale shared with CNN chilling messages that Hale sent to her before opening fire and murdering 6 people including 3 children at the Covenant School on Monday.
Averianna Patton said that on Monday morning, Hale sent her a message telling her that she was planning to die by suicide and that Patton would see it on the news.
“One day this will make more sense. I’ve left behind more than enough evidence behind. But something bad is about to happen,” the message said.
Patton says that she reached out to the Suicide Prevention Help Line by 10:08 am to report the matter.
And at 10:13 am, she called the Nashville Davidson County Sheriff’s Office at to make them aware of the situation.
However, she was told to call Nashville’s non-emergency number, this line kept her on hold for almost 7 minutes before informing that they would send an officer to her home.
Patton said an officer reached until 3:29 pm.
The Police department said that the calls of an active shooting came in around 10:15 am.
The shooter, Hale was once a student at the school. She was killed during exchange of gunfire with the police.
