By Aaron Humes: The Belize Tourism Board (BTB) is counting down to the second Belize International Music and Food Festival (BIMFF) with a series of countrywide events scouting top talent to take part in the two-day festival in July at Marion Jones Sports Complex in Belize City.
The first event took place on March 24 in Dangriga at the Alejo Beni Park, partnering with the Dangriga Town Council. The Board says more than 20 local performers and food vendors turned up and winners were selected in artist/entertainer, disc jockey, and food categories. Participants included Urawani C Dance Group, Adrian “Doc” Martinez, Top Flight, Papa John & YG, and food producers from Dangriga’s “kulcha” base such as Cims Enterprise, Ma –K’s Diner, S & J’s Kitchen and Stone Kraab Grill, with the Sweet Pain Band headlining.
Three participants, one in each category, received cash and recording studio time at the Reef Recording Studio in Belize City and will be automatically slotted in to participate in the Festival in July.
The remaining tour dates are as follows: Corozal, March 31; Orange Walk, April 15; Punta Gorda, April 29; San Ignacio/Santa Elena, May 13; Caye Caulker, May 27; and Belize City – June 17.
