Woman charged for possession of crack pipe claims she was holding it for someone else

By Breaking Belize News Staff: A 43-year-old woman has been fined for possession of a crack pipe that she claims wasn’t hers.

Kristen Noralez appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on Monday, charged with a single count of possession of utensils for smoking control drugs.

Noralez wasted no time and pleaded guilty to the charge. In mitigation, she threw herself to the mercy of the court and asked for leniency saying this was her first conviction for a drug pipe. According to Noralez, she made the mistake of holding the pipe for a friend and from this day forward she will never make such a mistake again.

For her guilty plea, the Magistrate fined Noralez $200 plus $5 cost of court which she must pay by May 27 or she will face two months in prison for default.

Police found the three-inch glass pipe in Noralez’s purse during a search conducted through Taylor’s Alley on Friday, March 24.
