By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: On Tuesday, the Brazil Government recorded the 700,000th death from COVID-19, the Associated Press reports.
Brazil has the second most COVID-19 deaths after the United States.
Health officials noted that those dying of COVID-19 recently, have either not been vaccinated or suffer from other diseases.
The country’s health ministry noted that the vaccine is available at health centers.
However, Health Minister Nisia Trindade criticized former President Jair Bolsonaro for his handling of the pandemic.
The former President himself refused to take the COVID-19 vaccine.
“We have to look at the past, but at the same time we have to say the health ministry cannot make the mistake of not coordinating, not taking care, not treating (the disease). We need to be united so new tragedies do not happen,” Trindade said.
