Man walks from charge of incest after wife and stepdaughter refuse to testify against him

By Breaking Belize News Staff: A 39-year-old man from northern Belize walked free from a charge of incest this week.

The man, who was accused of having sexual relations with his 13-year-old stepdaughter, appeared in the High Court of Belize on Tuesday.

The trial should have started on March 14; however, the mother of the alleged victim and the alleged victim herself refused to testify against the accused.

With their refusal, the prosecution was forced to enter a nolle prosequi, abandoning the charges against the accused.
