Special constable charged with eight counts of unlawful sex with minor to get his verdict next week

By Breaking Belize News Staff: Special Constable Jemery Bermudez will have to wait until next week to learn the verdict of his unlawful sexual intercourse case.

Bermudez appeared in the High Court of Belize before Justice Antionette Moore on Tuesday, for the close of his trial; however, justice Moore reserved delivering the verdict until Tuesday, April 4.

During the trial, the minor testified that between May 2018 and December 2019, Bermudez had sexual intercourse with her eight times, one of which was after she had turned 14.

Bermudez, who was defended by attorney Ian Gray, gave sworn testimony on the stand, but failed to address the minor’s accusations and either confirm or deny that he had sex with the minor.
