By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: The Commission on Science and Technology for Development (CSTD)’s 26th session is taking place from March 27 to 31, 2023 in Geneva, Switzerland.
The Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Technology informed that Belize is being represented by Carlos Fuller, Permanent Representative of Belize to the United Nations and Namrita Balani, Director of Science and Technology.
The CSTD is the United Nation’s focal point for Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) for development, analyzing how STI, including Information and Communications Technologies (ICTs), serve as enablers of the 2030 Agenda.
The Ministry notes that the session acts as a forum for strategic planning, sharing lessons learned and best practices, providing foresight about critical trends in Science, Technology and Innovation in key sectors of the economy, the environment and society, and drawing attention to emerging and disruptive technologies.
