Seventy-year-old man charged for hitting 67-year-old wife in the head with metal object

By Breaking Belize News Staff: A 70-year-old resident of Bermudian Landing is out on bail after being charged for hitting his 67-year-old wife in the head with a metal object during a domestic dispute.

Frank Young appeared unrepresented in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, charged with a single count of wounding.

Young pleaded guilty to the charge but told the Magistrate that it was a fight and that he too was injured. He showed the Magistrate marks on his body purported to be injuries sustained in the exchange and says he acted in self-defense told the court that he struck his wife in self-defense.

With his explanation, the Magistrate entered an equivocal plea of not guilty on Young’s behalf and granted him bail, which he met.

Young is due back in court on May 11.
