By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: On March 29, 2023, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and Enterprise and Miguel Huertas of the Yo Creek Agriculture Station provided an opportunity for students of San Pablo Community Primary School to learn more about agro-processing.
The session focused on preserving tomatoes and pineapples.
Agro-processing is important both as a means of adding value to raw products, as well as it helps conserve fruits and vegetables.
The Ministry noted that with fruits and vegetables sometimes being in oversupply, it is important to learn and practice preserving them and even making some money in the process.
The students of San Pablo Community School are also engaged in their own agricultural program, their vegetable garden at school.
