Woman testifies that a man raped her and beat her with a hammer during the incident

By Breaking Belize News Staff: The trial of Karl Lino, who is accused of raping a woman and beating her with a hammer during the incident, continued this week with the alleged victim taking the stand to give her account of the events.

The woman testified on Tuesday, that she was home alone, sleeping when she awoke to someone already in the act of raping her. She told the court she pleaded with her attacker to wear a condom, and when he let up on his assault to put one on, she tried to escape. She said he then grabbed and choked her and beat her with a hammer.

The prosecution called two other witnesses, read four witness statements, and has one more witness (ie. the doctor that examined the woman after the alleged incident), who will be called tomorrow.

Lino is being represented in the case by Attorneys Natasha Espat and Francine Burns.
