By Aaron Humes: 102 of the 116 members of the United Democratic Party’s National Party Council have agreed to a resolution to endorse Party Leader Moses “Shyne” Barrow and his executive at the next National Party Convention to continue to serve to go into the next general election.
The resolution was carried out at today’s meeting in Belize City and means that Barrow; first deputy Hugo Patt; second deputy Beverly Williams; chairman Michael Peyrefitte and deputy chairman Alberto August remain in their positions pending endorsement at the National Convention. That convention is scheduled for August 13 of this year as reported by party organ The Guardian.
Barrow was elected leader in a narrow vote in a special convention a year ago following the resignation of Patrick Faber, after assuming the post of Leader of the Opposition following an internal vote.
Faber’s status in the party remains unknown at this time, following public allegations he made yesterday that the Leader approached him seeking his support in exchange for resuming being standard bearer in the Collet Division.
