Special Envoy emphasizes importance of inclusion at Special Olympics Belize Family Health Forum

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: On March 31, 2023, Special Envoy for the Development of Families and Children, Rossana Briceno addressed the Special Olympics Belize Family Health Forum.

“Today, attending the Special Olympics Belize Family Health Forum gave me an opportunity to join my two commitments – education and inclusion of persons with special needs,” the Special Envoy said.

“We will only achieve true inclusion through building awareness and educating our people.  An inclusive society is more resilient but that means we must achieve broad-based inclusion – in education, sports, health and well-being, policy making, employment opportunities- to specifically mention a few key areas,” she added.

Briceno noted that “education and awareness will ensure we are truly considering the needs of our persons with special needs as we strive to improve services and opportunities.”
