Tragic accident claims life of child in Belize City

UPDATE: Reference this accident, Police have identified the victim as six-year-old Armando Gabriel Godoy, and the driver as Dion Logan, 43, a driver for Central TV and Internet (Nexgen Company) who is presently in Police custody. A urine sample was obtained and notice of intended prosecution was served.

By Aaron Humes: Police spokesperson ASP Fitzroy Yearwood confirmed this afternoon that a young boy in Belize City lost his life in a tragic accident earlier today. The incident occurred on Antelope Street Extension, where the child was found motionless and surrounded by blood.

Police reports indicate that around 11:45 am, the boy was on his way to a nearby shop on Antelope Street Extension to buy items for his mother. While crossing the street, he was struck by a white NEXGEN company truck, property of Central TV and Internet Limited.

Authorities processed the scene and the boy’s body was taken to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital morgue. The driver of the vehicle is reportedly cooperating with the police as they continue their investigation into this unfortunate incident.
