By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Today, the U.S. Embassy in Belize announced that effective May 30, 2023, the application fee for U.S. visitor visas and other non-petition-based non-immigrant visas (NIVs) will increase from US$160 (BZ$320) to US$185 (BZ$370), a fifty-dollar increase.
The new fees apply to Belizeans both applying for the first time and renewing their U.S. visas.
The U.S. Embassy noted that petition-based (H, L, O, P, Q, and R) visa fees which cover agricultural, business, education, arts and sciences and entertainers and entertainment workers, will increase by 30 dollars from US$190 (BZ$380) to US$205 (BZ$410).
In addition, E visa (for business, trade and investment) application fees will increase from US$205 (BZ$410) to US$315 (BZ$630).
“We recognize the critical role international travel plays in the U.S. economy,” the U.S. Embassy noted.
The U.S. Embassy further noted that visa fees are calculated based on the results of an annual study of the cost of service.
