The Belize Tapir Project thanks family for caring for injured tapir

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: The Belize Tapir Project says that they received information about a tapir being cared for by the Sagastume family in the Fresh Pond area.

The Belize Tapir Project says that they partnered up with The Belize Zoo and Tropical Education Center to assist in caring for the tapir.

“Thanks to the Sagastume family for being the real heroes, having taking her in when you did and reaching out,” the Belize Tapir Project noted.

The Belize Tapir Project said that the tapir was dehydrated and had injuries consistent with that of being hit by a vehicle.

“But that feisty attitude in her gives us hope for a full recovery,” they noted.
