Wildfires reported in Belmopan and along George Price Highway

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Councilor of the Belmopan City Council, Nikki Augustine posted a video to Facebook showing a fire spreading in the J and W area of Belmopan.

Augustine is calling on the immediate intervention of the Fire department since the fire is spreading quickly.

Mayor of Belmopan, Sharon Palacio is urging all residents to desist from lighting fires especially in residential areas.

The Belmopan City Council noted that it is working tirelessly to extinguish fires in the Maya Mopan and J and W areas.

“We ask residents with access to a water truck to please support the ongoing efforts of the Fire Department,” the council said.

In addition, several wild fires have been reported along the George Price Highway near the 8 Miles community and in Hattieville Village.
