By Benjamin Flowers: At the end of March, sky watchers were treated to a rare lineup of the moon and four planets, this month there are three celestial events coming up.
TimeandDate.com’s astronomy calendar shows that there is an upcoming hybrid solar eclipse on April 20. This event, which coincides with the new moon, is rare even among eclipses and will not be visible in some parts of the world. The hybrid eclipse will be visible from western Australia, eastern Timor-Leste, and Indonesia.
On April 23, sky watchers will be able to see the Lyrid Meteor Shower, an annual event when the Hercules constellation is at its peak. During the event, around 20 meteors will streak across the night sky.
Sky watchers will also be able to see the puppids meteor shower between April 15-23, with more meteors visible each night. Seen from Belize City, the shower will be active each day from dusk until around 9:53 p.m. when its radiant point sets below the western horizon.
