Belize District trio charged in Sirenian Bay robbery

By Aaron Humes: 23-year-old Jermaine Bernardez of Belize City and Dangriga, Stann Creek District; 41-year-old Jermaine Garnett of Belize City and 23-year-old Tyrique Garnett of Ladyville have been jointly charged with aggravated burglary and two counts of aggravated assault.

They are accused of committing the early morning home invasion of a room at Sirenian Bay Resort on the Placencia Road on March 10, in which an American family was tied up and held up at gunpoint. The attackers were masked and demanded to know where the owner of the property was.

After stealing an iPhone from one of the victims, the men escaped following a short confrontation with responding police.
