Progresso whip Wagiya 8-0, Jonard Castillo slams 4 in Premier League of Belize

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Jonard Castillo was the star of the show scoring four goals in Progresso’s 8-0 scourging of Wagiya at the Carl Ramos Stadium in Dangriga as the Premier League of Belize closed Week 12.

Castillo scored in the 27’, 48’, 64’, and 87’.

Marlon Gutierrez had opened the well in the second minute setting the stage for his teammates to complete an impressive performance much to the chagrin of the Wagiya fans at the Carl Ramos.

Kyle Budna scored a brace in the 45’ and 70’, while Abner Howard added another in the 75’ on his debut.

That’s the biggest blowout this season. Prior to this, Altitude beat Wagiya 5-0 on March 19 at Carl Ramos. Port also beat Wagiya 6-2 at Marion Jones at the beginning of Round 2 on March 5. Port had won 5-0 over Wagiya in Dangriga on January 15.

Wagiya have been struggling and taking a pounding this season.

On March 19, as well, Verdes trounced Internacional 5-0 in Cayo.

With the San Pedro-Verdes game called off, Progresso, totalled 23 points and moved over into second place above San Pedro (22).

Wagiya keep languishing in seventh place with three points.
