Upper Macal Working group shared results of freshwater research conducted in Mountain Pine Ridge

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: On April 10, 2023, the Upper Macal Working Group held its quarterly meeting at Pineridgito Gate in the Mountain Pine Ridge.

Friends for Conservation and Development (FCD) noted that the Upper Macal Working group informed members of the region’s challenges and presented the results of the freshwater macro-invertebrate community research conducted in the Bald Hills Region of the Mountain Pine Ridge Forest Reserve.

The results from the 12 sampling points shows that the water resources are generally healthy.

 The recommendation is to extend the area of study where more human disturbance is noticeable.

The working group joins stakeholders from the Upper Macal and lower basin as well as community leaders from San Antonio village.
