By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Deputy Commissioner of Police, Howell Gillett has joined in extending condolences on the passing of Police Communications Director, Assistant Superintendent Fitzroy Yearwood.
“We were deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Assistant Superintendent of Police, Fitzroy Yearwood of the Belize police department. Losing a dedicated law enforcement officer like him is a great loss for the community, the department, and the nation,” Gillett said.
“Assistant Superintendent Yearwood was a respected and admired member of the police department, known for his professionalism, integrity, and commitment to serving and protecting the people of Belize. He dedicated his life to ensuring the safety and security of others, and his contributions to the department and the country will not be forgotten,” he added.
Gillett says that his thoughts and prayers are with his family and the entire Belize police department.
Minister of Tourism and Diaspora Relations, Anthony Mahler, and the Belize Tourism Board have also extended sympathies on his death.
“ASP Yearwood became a pillar of the Belize Police Department during his years of service. As one of the most familiar faces of the department, his passing will be felt by many,” the BTB noted.
Minister of Home Affairs, Kareem Musa also extended sympathies to family, friends and the Belize Police Department.
“You were a valiant, charismatic and humble officer who always managed to bring a smile to your colleagues’ faces.
From north to south you will be forever missed.
Rest well brother Fitzroy,” Musa said.
