By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Today, Prime Minister John Briceño and his family paid tribute to a patriarch in their family, Tio Julio.
“Our senior citizens have made their contributions to our lives, communities and nation. I am sure we can all reflect on those older family members who led our families remarkably and we express gratitude for them,” the Prime Minister said.
“Our tío Julio celebrates his 98th birthday today. Along with my brother Jaime E Briceno and our cousin Chief Education Officer Ms. Yolanda Góngora, we gathered to spend a special moment with him in gratitude for all he’s done for family and community,” he added.
Briceño noted that Góngora has been a dedicated family man, husband, brother and father to 11 children – a chiclero, milpero and cañero.
“He’s still strong physically and quite sharp and alert. He’s still quite independent in so many ways.
We have many good memories of him as we grew up and the strong bond we share as family,” Briceño said.
The Prime Minister encouraged all Belizeans to celebrate those special moments and memories with our elders~ True blessings to families, communities and nation.
