By Aaron Humes: Victim of a Good Friday aggravated burglary at his residence in Toledo, Christoph König, has written to Breaking Belize News to tell the “story behind the story” of his ordeal on April 7.
As we have reported, three men broke into his residence, tied him up, and stole a sum of money and other items. They are still being looked for by the police.
König tells us that “I want to use this message to say [to] the boys, I have already forgiven them and if they truly repent from their wrong way and choose the path of blessing, I will help them.” He added that if they are caught, he will support their imprisonment but also hopes for their rehabilitation.
König also related the part of the story that apparently didn’t make the police report as follows: “While the three thieves searched the whole house to find money, I told them the meaning of Good Friday when Jesus was nailed to the cross for our sins and on both side of him were thieves like you. One chose to follow Jesus to paradise, the other made no decision. They became very angry about my talking and gagged my mouth so that I couldn`t say anything more. But when they took off the gag before they fled, I called after them that God still loves them but not what they do.”
And after that apropos reminder, he related, “I love this country of Belize with its diverse people and beautiful nature but feel pain when I see a lot of suffering in the families from crime, violence, and drugs. If you are tiered [sic] from this or wish to change your live [sic], you can`t do it by yourself, everything is already done on Good Friday. There is no sin too great that Jesus cannot take away. If you feel it sounds like me, or you wish to [break] up with this bad life, find a pastor to help you get on the path of blessing. Be a blessing to your family, to your community, and to your wonderful country.”
