Belize Weather: Heat alert

By Breaking Belize News Staff: The National Meteorological Service observes seasonably warm and dry conditions continuing with an increase in wind speed later today. Skies will be sunny with a few cloudy spells this morning, becoming mostly sunny later and clear to partly cloudy tonight; little or no rainfall is expected.

High temperatures reach 89 degrees Fahrenheit along the coast; 97 degrees over inland areas and 84 degrees in the hills. Tonight’s low temperatures will be 78 degrees along the coast, 69 degrees inland and 64 degrees in the hills. A heat alert is in effect and those living inland are especially advised to remain hydrated and avoid outdoor activity as much as possible, especially during the afternoon.

Winds are easterly to southeasterly at 10 to 20 knots with higher gusts and sea state starts choppy, becoming moderate to rough. A small craft caution will likely go into effect later today as winds become occasionally gusty and seas locally rough.

Tides are high as of 6:11 this morning; a low tide occurs at 10:25 this morning followed by a high tide at 4:52 this evening. The sun sets at 6:08 this evening and rises at 5:36 Saturday morning.

Warm temperatures and windy and dry conditions are forecasted for Saturday.
