Posted: Friday, April 14, 2023. 8:49 am CST.

By Aaron Humes: Police are investigating a suspicious vehicle fire in Belize City that took place overnight.

According to police, the owner of T and W Store corner Vernon Street and East Collet Canal Street, 40-year-old Xiao Li Xie He, reported that she asked her worker to park the Isuzu delivery truck next to the store at the end of the workday around 7:30 Thursday night. Around 4 a.m. this morning, she was notified by Police that the vehicle was on fire after they received information of the conflagration in progress. The truck is valued at $20,000 and is insured, but was partially destroyed.

Surveillance footage from the scene suggests that someone was seen entering the vehicle, then walking off, followed by the explosion and flames engulfing the front passenger side of the truck. The fire was subsequently put out by Fire Service personnel.

Police investigations continue.
