By Rubén Morales Iglesias: After three weeks of no basketball due to the Easter Break, the Belize Elite Basketball League (BEBL) resumes this weekend with the biggest game of all, featuring the undefeated Orange Walk Running Rebels, who sport a six-game-winning streak against the Benny’s Belize Hurricanes, which many consider to be the strongest BEBL team. The game is scheduled for 9:00 pm at the Belize City Civic Center on Friday.
The Hurricanes could actually be in the lead, but are one game short as they haven’t played against the San Pedro Tiger Sharks yet. Hence their position in the standings dropped to fourth place.
For their part, also happening tonight in the BEBL, the Western Ballaz are matching up against the Belize City Defenders. This match is playing at 8:00 pm at the Sacred Heart College Auditorium in San Ignacio.
Other than that, two games are scheduled for Saturday night featuring the Griga Dream Ballers and the Belmopan Red Taigaz in Dangriga at the Russel ‘Chiste’ Garcia Auditorium at 9:00 pm and the San Pedro Tiger Sharks hosting the Punta Gorda Panthers at 9:00 pm at San Pedro High School’s Basketball Court.
That’s the weekend in the Belize Elite Basketball League.
