Belize Athletics Association holds National Championships this weekend at Marion Jones

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Belize best athletes, including double Gold Carifta Medalist Demetrie Meyers and Olympian Brandon Jones, are competing in the Belize Athletics Association National Championships this weekend, April 15-16, at the Marion Jones Sporting Complex in Belize City.

Meyers arrived in Belize after competing in the 50th Carifta Games in Nassau, Bahamas, where he won gold in the 1500m and 3000m. Jones missed the Carifta Games though he had been selected by the BAA.

The BAA also said world champion coach Andre Cason will be present at the National Championships scouting for the BAA Junior and Senior teams. Cason will also be identifying possible talent to be considered for scholarships.

“For the first time in Belize this National championship will feature a Professional Fully Automatic Timer. All official results will be posted online for the world to see!”

The National Championships started at 9:00 am on Saturday.
