By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Benny’s Belize Hurricanes routed the Orange Walk Running Rebels 109-80 putting a stop to their six-game winning streak in the Belize Elite Basketball League in front of a full house at the Belize City Civic Center on Friday night.
With the win, the Hurricanes, now with a 7-2 record surpass the Orange Walk Running Rebels (6-4) (both at 16 points as the Griga Dream Ballers) and claim the number one seed.
Jamell Harris led the Hurricanes with 18 points, seven rebounds, one assist, one steal, and two blocks.
Victor Evans contributed 17, four rebounds, and three assists.
Alex Carcamo and Kris Frazier sank 12 each with Carcamo adding nine boards and two assists. Frazier added three rebounds.
Glency Lopez put in ten points, two rebounds, two assists, and three steals.
Rasheed Reneau netted 16 for the Rebels. He added eight rebounds and two steals.
James Stanback scored 15 points, pulled four rebounds, and made two assists, two steals, and two blocks.
Matthew Young contributed 14 points, seven rebounds, one assist, two steals, and one blocked shot.
Tyrone Hall made 11 points, seven rebounds, three assists, and two steals.
