By Breaking Belize News Staff: Twenty-eight-year-old Trevor Brown has been remanded to the Belize Central Prison after being charged with a total of six criminal offenses.

Brown appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court this week charged with one count of burglary, two counts of damage to property, two counts of harm, and one count of insulting words.

Brown is accused of breaking into a woman’s home on Wednesday, April 5, damaging jewelry valued at $2,300, as well as causing an estimated $2,000 to the vehicle of a man that was with the woman in her house at the time of the break-in.

The prosecution objected to bail on the grounds that the charges stem from a domestic dispute and asked the Magistrate to consider the prevalence of such crimes in Belize. When asked if he had anything to say on whether or not the court should grant bail, Brown failed to convince the Magistrate that he should not be sent to prison.

Brown was remanded until next month.
