Fallen power line takes out vehicle in Ladyville

Posted: Sunday, April 16, 2023. 1:51 pm CST.

By Aaron Humes: Police were called out to a scene in Ladyville on Saturday night concerning a vehicle on fire.

According to Ashton Lozano of Mile 9, Philip Goldson Highway, he heard a popping sound just before 10 p.m. while inside his house. Looking out the window facing where his grey Hyundai vehicle was parked inside his outdoor garage, he saw it on fire.

Lozano tried to put out the fire with a garden hose and a few minutes later received assistance from the fire tender in the village to extinguish it. Initial investigation revealed that a power line from a lamppost 75 feet away burst and fell on the vehicle, which caught fire.

The vehicle had not been working for the past year and was not insured; it is valued at $40,000.

Police investigations continue.
