Orange Walk Facebook scammers walk free from charge by paying back victim

By Breaking Belize News Staff: Two Orange Walk residents walked free from a charge of obtaining property by deception after the victim requested no further court action.

Twenty-year-old Deandre Palacio and 19-year-old, Jaheem Lemar Chan appeared in court charged with obtaining $950 cash through a Facebook contact as payment for a cell phone; however, they never delivered the product.

In court, the victim appeared to inform that she wanted no further court action against the duo.

When asked why, she explained that all she wanted was her money back and she has since been compensated.

With that the prosecution offered no further evidence and the case against them was dismissed.
