Suspicious fire reported in St Martin de Porres area

By Aaron Humes: Police are looking for one man following a report of a suspicious fire on Saturday night on Oleander Street, Belize City.

According to Kareem Eagan of Oleander Street, around 11:10 on Saturday night he smelled smoke and on going outside he noticed that his neighbour Glenford Webster’s house was on fire and it was threatening to spread to his residence.

Eagan said he began making attempts to put out the fire and it was ultimately extinguished by the National Fire Service. Webster was seen in the area but left when approached by police.

The estimated value of the structure, a Plycem bungalow house measuring approximately 20 feet by 24 feet, and its contents is unknown at this time. Police investigations continue.
