Belize exports over 526 head of cattle to Mexico valued at over $700,000

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Belize is exporting 526 head of cattle on Tuesday and Wednesday to Mexico.

According to Principal Agriculture Officer and National Director of Livestock Belarmino Esquivel in the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security, and Enterprise (MAFSE), 301 head of cattle were exported on Tuesday and 225 are being sent to the SuKarne company on Wednesday.

At an average of 600 pounds per animal and $2.25 per pound the 526 animals have a value of just over $710,000.

During the first quarter of 2023, Belizean livestock producers had exported 1092 head of cattle to SuKarne at a value of $1,474,200. With these two shipments, 1628 livestock will have been exported so far this year with a total value of $2,184,300.

In 2022, Belize exported 4,995 head of cattle to the SuKarne company in Mexico.
