Belize Holds Central American Commission for Environment and Development (CCAD) Council of Ministers Meeting

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Belize is this week hosting the Second Central American Commission for Environment and Development (CCAD) Council of Ministers Meeting in Belize City, according to a press release issued by the Government of Belize Press Office.

Belize is hosting the meeting as President Pro-tempore of the Central American Integration System (SICA).

The meeting, being held on the margins of the 2nd CCAD Regional Environmental Congress, seeks to share the progress of the ongoing initiatives and should present project reports and new project concepts for approval.

“During its presidency, Belize continues prioritizing an interregional agenda on climate change,” said the Press Office’s press release.

“The agenda focuses particularly on climate finance and advancing the Revised Regional Framework for Achieving Development Resilient to Climate Change, fresh water security, enhancing regional technical capacity on the environment and climate change and the development of other regional policy documents. Belize’s CCAD priorities are aligned closely with those of the SICA Presidency.”

The GOB Press Office said CCAD’s mission is to develop environmental cooperation and integration with the goal of improving the quality of life of the Central American people.
