International News: United Nations says India to surpass China as world’s most populous country 

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: The United Nations noted that India is set to surpass China and become the world’s most populous country by mid-year.

CNN reports that based on projections, India’s population is set to reach 1.4286 billion, compared to China’s 1.4257 billion.

The United States follows China and India with an estimated population of 340 million.

The United Nations Population Fund’s (UNFPA) “State of World Population Report” for 2023 shows that China and India together will account for more than a third of the estimated global population.
