Man sentenced to three months in jail for punching grocery store cashier to the face

By Breaking Belize News Staff: Fifty-four-year-old Henry Mariano was sentenced to three months in prison this week for punching a grocery store cashier in the face during a dispute at the store.

Mariano appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday where he was charged with one count of assault and one count of threatening words.

He pleaded guilty to the assault but not guilty to the threatening words charge.

The threatening words case will go to trial and has been adjourned for the month of June.

The dispute occurred at Amid Supermarket on April 12.
