By Aaron Humes: At this hour, Police are questioning the man believed to have killed 50-year-old Deserie Gonzalez Rowland and 25-year-old George Rochester Encalada sometime today at a residence in Ladyville.
This afternoon, Senior Superintendent of Police Reymundo Reyes, Deputy Commander (Operations), Eastern Division, told reporters that police got the call after noon to Scissortail Street, Ladyville, where the bodies were found, as well as the suspect.
“At this present moment, we know that we have the body of a male person with what appears to be head injuries as well as that of [a] female. The investigation is somewhat pretty young at this moment, we have one person in custody who we intend to interview as well as other relatives to try to establish exactly what transpired, or if they can assist with the investigation,” said Senior Superintendent Reyes, who added that if a motive can be established, it will have to come from the suspect.
Ladyville residents came out to the scene and registered their shock. Village chairman Bernardo Bennett told reporters that the victim and suspect ran a successful restaurant and barbershop together and appeared from all accounts to be happy, and that neither was known for violent episodes. According to family members, blood was observed outside the residence, suggesting that at least part of the incident may have occurred there and that the scene police found was possibly staged to indicate some sort of improper conduct between the victims.
Investigations by police continue.
