By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: On April 15, 2023, the medical associations of Belize, Guatemala and Mexico signed a tri-national agreement for academic collaborations.
The signing ceremony was held at the Technological University of Chetumal.
Signing on behalf of Belize was and Dr. Perlita Oneida Aldana, President of the Belize Medical and Dental Association.
The Peten Medical Association – AMEP was represented by Dr. Clara Margarita Esquivel Sandoval, current President of the Board of Directors and Dr. Carlos Alberto Peláez Sáenz, current Vice-president of the Board of Directors.
President of the College of Physicians of Quintana Roo, Mexico, Dr. Francisco Javier Lara Uscanga signed on behalf of Mexico.
This agreement will allow for greater academic collaboration for health professionals to strengthen continuous medical education, and thus improve the quality of care for the population in the three countries.
The first joint event is a conference on traditional medicine to be held on May 25 to May 27, 2023 in Jose Maria Morelos, Mexico.
The purpose of the conference will be to rescue and preserve the culture related to health care with the ancestral methods.
