By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Joslyn Chavarria is organizing the 30-mile Cayo’s Suffer-Ring Course for August. This is the Second Annual Baby Chav’s Fundraiser to assist in brother Derrick Chavarria’s education. Derrick is studying at Lees-McRae College in North Carolina in the United States with a partial scholarship, but needs help to covering the remainder of the funds.
Derrick, also known as Baby Chav, is one of Belize’s best young cyclists and has already won regional Caribbean championships at the Under-23 level.
The Cayo Suffer-Ring Course race will be held on Sunday, August 20.

Last year, Mairon Munoz of the 501 Valvoline Cycling Team won the gruelling race that starts at Hodes place by Macal Park in San Ignacio. From Macal Park, the race travels to Santa Elena- Esperanza- Georgeville takes a right into Cool Shade – Upper Barton Creek – Seven Miles/El Progresso – takes another right into San Antonio- Cristo Rey – Santa Elena- takes a left around the Roundabout unto Loma Luz Boulevard- another left and finishes at Macal Park.

The race will feature several categories including Elite, Juniors, Gonz, Masters 40 & up, Women, and Children (Tiny Mites).
Registration will be free for children.
