Opposition Leader Shyne Barrow stresses the need for integrity and unity in guest speech delivered in St. Lucia

By Breaking Belize News Staff: Leader of the Opposition Moses “Shyne” Barrow urged the St. Lucia United Workers Party (UWP) to remain united and endorsed their leader, former Prime Minister of St. Lucia Allen Chastanet for his integrity, during his recent guest speech at the UWP convention.

Chastanet invited Barrow to speak at the convention which was held in the town of Soufrière from April 14-16.

During his speech, Barrow called Chastanet the “next prime minister of St. Lucia,” and said that he believes in Chastanet’s capability since he held the position before (2016 to his election defeat in 2021), where he demonstrated strong political will.

He went on to say that Cahsanet has demonstrated the greatest integrity by delivering on his psoriasis, and encouraged all members of the UWP to follow his lead.

To the party, he said, “One thing that I want to impress upon you, is unity. It is so important for the United Workers Party to form the next government that you remain unified. Do not let them divide you. Do not let them destabilize you. Do not let them distract you because they are doing the same thing in Belize,” Barrow said.

Barrow hinted that he has been successful in his recent bid in unifying the United Democratic Party (UDP) after repeated and very public fallouts with long-standing members of the party, saying that like Chastanet, he has received near unanimous support from his party.
