BREAKING: Patrick Faber is back! Party Leader Shyne Barrow welcomes his return as Collet standard bearer

By Breaking Belize News Staff: Five-time Collet area representative for the Collet Constituency, Patrick Faber, is once again the United Democratic Party’s (UDP’s) standard bearer for the division.

UDP Party Leader Moses “Shyne” Barrow confirmed with Breaking Belize News this afternoon that Ian Jones, who had replaced Faber last year, resigned from the post to make way for Faber.

Barrow and Faber had very public disputes regarding his open criticism of the party, and in October 2022 Faber’s application to the Nominations Committee was rejected in favor of Jones who was endorsed.

In a show of party unity, Barrow has since welcomed Faber back into his role and thanked him for returning.

Notably, Barrow, during his recent visit to St. Lucia to speak to the opposition party there, stressed that unity is the key to a party’s victory and said that his leadership was endorsed by the UDP. Recently, the UDP’s National Party Council party voted 102 to 16 in favour of a resolution to endorse the leadership of Barrow and the entire executive.
