‘Fire at Bacab Eco Park treated as an arson investigation,’ Police say

By Benjamin Flowers: There was a fire at Bacab Eco Park near the Burrell Boom junction on Monday, and police believe it was an act of arson.

Head of Police Eastern Division Hilberto Romero told the media today that officers responded to the scene around 7:30 p.m. where they found two wooden structures on the property completely engulfed in flames. Personnel from the Belize National Fire Service (BNFS) came and extinguished the blaze, however, the buildings were totally destroyed.

“Initial investigation revealed that a motorcycle was seen entering the area with two male persons and thereafter the buildings were seen engulfed in flames. Thereafter the two male persons fled on the motorcycle,” Romero said.

Romero also explained that the buildings had a combined value of $700,000 and were not insured.
