Guatemalan President expresses ‘solidarity’ and ‘absolute support’ for Taiwan

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Guatemalan President, Alejandro Giammattei is in Taiwan for a 4-day state visit where he will meet with dignitaries and President of Taiwan, Tsai Ing-wen.

The Guatemalan President was received with the highest Military Honors by President Tsai Ing-wen in Taiwan.

“The political, economic and cultural dialogue between Guatemala and the Republic of China (Taiwan) has always followed the path of respect and cordiality but above all fraternity. We have been together in the most important moments and today we endorse our friendship,” Giammattei stated. 

President Giammattei says that he brought to Taiwan, a message of  “support for the territorial integrity of the Republic of China (Taiwan) and a promise to continue strengthening this true and reciprocal friendship.”

President Giammattei also addressed Taiwan’s parliament and ratified Guatemala’s position demanding respect for Taiwan’s sovereignty.

“Today I ratify the solidarity and absolute support of Guatemala. I wish the brave and fraternal Republic of China (Taiwan) a prosperous future and long life,” he added.
