By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: The Ministry of Health and Wellness has called on parents to keep a close eye on their children for signs such as vomiting, abdominal pain, dehydration, and excessive sweating after an incident involving marijuana-infused candies.
Following the event that led to nearly 30 students being hospitalized after consuming the tainted candies, the Prime Minister has mandated a comprehensive investigation into the matter.
The affected children were treated at the KHMH, and the Ministry has stated that the provisional diagnosis points to marijuana intoxication. Individuals exhibiting these symptoms should seek help at their nearest healthcare facility.
The Prime Minister’s Office has emphasized that they will maintain close collaboration with the KHMH, Belize Police Department, and the Ministry of Health and Wellness to resolve the issue.
In a statement, the Office of the Prime Minister affirmed its dedication to safeguarding citizens, particularly the children of Belize, and pledged to ensure that justice prevails in this case.
