By Breaking Belize News Staff: Today the High Court of Belize adjourned the murder trial of Cecil Gill, who stands accused of killing 21-year-old Phillip Samuels back in 2017, into next month for a verdict.
Gill’s trial began last Thursday with Senior Counsel Riis Cattouse representing the prosecution, and attorney Oscar Selgado representing Gill.
Samuels and Gill were known friends, however, on July 17, 2017, Samuels was stabbed to death at an apartment building on Boots Crescent, Belize City. Eyewitnesses said that Gill and another individual had gotten into a fight and that Samuels was trying to part the fight when he was stabbed.
Gill was arrested and charged soon after.
