Sixteen-year-old Jaylen Perez to face off against 25-year-old Guatemalan Jonathan Chutan as Pro Fc 7’s main event

By Benjamin Flowers: Belize’s Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) League Pro FC, is holding its next big event this weekend in Belize City, with the prize fight being -year-old Jaylen Perez facing off against 25-year-old Guatemalan Jonathan Chutan.

Pro FC 7 is set to take place at the Mexico Sports Center on Saturday, April 29, and will feature a total of 8 MMA fights and four grappling matches. While the majority of the fights are between local fighters, the co-main and main events take place between a Belizean and a Guatemalan fighter.

Silvino Riverol, President of Pro FC, said that, despite the age disparity, attendees are in for an amazing show, as Perez is an incredibly talented and tenacious fighter.

“Chuton is the former heavyweight champion but he dropped down to 135 (pounds) because he wants another belt. He has defended his title twice, both times against a Belizean,” Riveroll said. “Jaylen is 3-0 in MMA, undefeated. He is a phenom, one of those people who were just born to be a fighter. He will make a miracle.”

Riverol added that the event transcends beyond the fight itself, as gyms across Belize are using MMA to positively impact the lives of Belizean youths. He stressed that those who are willing to learn and put in the hard work can not only find a positive outlet, but find a career, and opportunities abroad, and make meaningful income through combat sports.

He encouraged those who want to get started on their journey in MMA to seek out a gym in their district to get started.
